PRESS: 4 EU companies compete for Russia’s Nord Stream-2 building
MOSCOW, Jan 13 (PRIME) -- France’s Technip, Switzerland’s Allseas, Netherlands’ Royal IHC and Italy’s Saipem have submitted bids to build Russia’s Nord Stream-2 pipeline to Europe, business daily Kommersant reported Wednesday, citing sources with knowledge of the situation.
The winner, who will receive the right to sign a more than U.S. $4 billion contract to build two lines of the 2,500 kilometer pipeline, will be chosen in January, the sources told Kommersant.
Bloomberg reported late Tuesday that Saipem is in negotiations with Gazprom to build the undersea pipeline. The company declined to comment.
The first line of Nord Stream – running to Germany under the Baltic Sea – was launched in November 2011, and the second one in October 2012. Their total capacity is 55 billion cubic meters annually.
